A man suspected of shooting seven law enforcement officers and killing one in South Carolina has been charged with murder, authorities said on Friday.

According to Yahoo News, the 74-year-old man – who has been identified as Fred Hopkins – allegedly ambushed officers while they were serving a search warrant at his Florence County house.

The man is also charged with six counts of attempted murder in the shooting, per CNN.

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott held a press conference at 2 p.m. on Friday at the Florence Center, during which he discussed the details of the shooting.

Lott said that three deputies from the Florence County Sheriff’s office went to the suspect’s house with a search warrant to interrogate his 28-year-old adopted son, Seth Hopkins, regarding the investigation of a criminal sexual assault, CNN reported.

It’s common knowledge by now that Brett Kavanaugh attended Georgetown Prep as a youth, and it has become equally well-known that he and his school friends hosted wild parties, drank to excess, and possibly engaged in inappropriate sexual behavior.

Some prep schools have decided that they don’t really want that to be their image. Several elite prep schools are examining their own culture to determine whether or not they somehow fostered this atmosphere, NPR reports.

The current president of Georgetown Prep, James Van Dyke, did not respond to media requests to provide a direct comment. However, he recently sent a letter out to parents. In it, he vows along with the school to “continue our ongoing work with the guys on developing…a healthy understanding of masculinity.”

The letter further promises to “talk with [students] honestly and even bluntly about what respect for other, especially respect for women and other marginalized people, means in very practical terms — in actions and words.”

Jennifer Garner’s love life has become the subject of lots of speculation ever since she officially separated from Ben Affleck. Tabloids have previously linked her to Josh Duhamel and Chris Pine. Now there are stories alleging that the actress is dating her Camping co-star Arturo Del Puerto.

But celebrity rumor watchdog Gossip Cop is on the case and they report that the rumors of their romance are untrue.

Camping is an HBO series starring Garner and Del Puerto that’s set to premiere on October 14. But, as Gossip Cop notes, OK! Magazine published a story alleging that they were more than just co-workers on set.

“They began as friends, but it turned into something more,” the reported source said. “It was clear to everyone on the set that sparks were there.”

Those “sparks” led to a full-blown romance, the tabloid contends. A romance that the two are keeping secret.

BBC has reported that Interpol President Meng Hongwei has disappeared on a trip to China, and has not been heard from for nearly two weeks. Meng Hongwei was last seen leaving the Interpol headquarters in Lyon, France, on July 25. He was reported missing by his wife, who CNN reports has also received threats by phone and by social networks.

An unnamed source close to the investigation told the Agence France Press that “He did not disappear in France,”according to the South China Morning Post, which also quotes an unnamed source that Meng Hongwei was “‘taken away’ for questioning by discipline authorities ‘as soon as he landed in China’ last week.”

Fire officials in Prince George’s County in Maryland reported Friday that an apartment fire that displaced more than 130 people last month was started by a woman who allegedly set the building on fire because she was upset with her ex-boyfriend.

According to WFMY News 2, the incident took place around 3:30 p.m. on September 17, when Prince George’s County firefighters responded to reports of a fire in a three-story apartment building in New Carrolton. The fire, which was allegedly started by 32-year-old Natasha Ciara Joyner, was only put out two hours after firefighters arrived at the scene.

Timothy Loehmann, the police officer who shot and killed Tamir Rice in 2014, has found a new job at a small police department in rural Ohio.

A local news outlet, the Times Leader, reports that Loehmann was hired as a part-time officer with the Bellaire Police Department. According to the article, their police chief, Richard Flanagan, has said that he believes in second chances when he was asked about Loehmann’s hiring.

“He was cleared of any and all wrongdoing,” the chief said. “He was never charged. It’s over and done with.”

As Cleveland.com notes, Loehmann and another officer were responding to a 911 call which stated that a “guy with a gun” was flashing it at people at a park. The person who made the call stipulated that the “guy” was probably a “juvenile” and that the weapon was probably fake.

Mark Sprague was sentenced in 1995 in Columbus, Ohio, to three life sentences for raping his 1-year-old toddler son—and he is now free walking the streets. As CBS KUTV reported, the Ohio Parole Board made the decision to release Mark Sprague in September, and the convicted toddler rapist was released on Monday. Sprague admitted to raping his own son, Christopher, pleading guilty to rape and felonious sexual penetration. The convicted rapist received multiple life sentences with a chance of parole.

The highest-paid public employee in New York City was not Mayor Bill de Blasio, not the police commissioner, or the school chancellor. It was a sewer worker named Bhavesh Patel.

Patel pulled in $539,098 in total wages last year, which was actually more than the mayor and police commissioner combined. As the New York Post reported, he had to put in 1,992 hours of overtime on top of his 2,086 regular hours — a rate of close to 80 hours a week total for all 52 weeks of the year. That means he had to work nearly 16 hours every single day, all in and around the New York City sewers.

As the city’s Department of Environmental Protection noted, it’s not an easy job.

“New York’s sewers run 24 hours a day with more than 1 billion gallons of wastewater and these engineers protect public health by ensuring it all flows in the right direction,” DEP spokesman Ted Timbers told the New York Post.

A young baby has been killed by a vicious dog bite while she was at her grandparents’ house.

The tragic event took place at a home on Fairwood Avenue in Clearwater. According to Tampabay, the report of a young child bitten by a dog was called in at 2:12 p.m.

Police said that the family pet dog, a pit bull mix named Lynnie, attacked the 7-year-old baby girl. The baby’s grandparents were reportedly babysitting the child when the attack happened.

Paramedics rushed the child to Mease Countryside Hospital for treatment but attempts to rescue the child were futile as she was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Joshua Scott, a neighbor who lives just two doors down from the home where the attack happened, said that he saw a gurney come out of the home after the incident, but he thought it was empty.

The owner of a gas station in Florida has a bizarre problem. He claims that random people have been using the microwave to heat urine.

Parul Patel, owner of On the Fly convenience store and BP gas station in Jacksonville, said that he is fed up of people walking in and using the microwave to warm their container of urine.

“We got sick and tired of people bringing their urine containers,” Patel told the First Coast News.“They’re just random people walking and it’s happening every day.”

Worse, the people who do this are not even Patel’s customers. They just walk in off of the street, microwave their containers of urine, and then leave.

Patel’s problem appears to have something to do with the location of the gas station. It is just within walking distance of Quest Diagnostics and a LabCorp. These two companies offer drug testing services and collect urine samples.

During the Friday night broadcast of The Ingraham Angle on Fox News Channel, guest and Fox News contributor Raymond Arroyo fell out of his chair as he attempted to take a selfie while on the air with Ingraham. Business Insider reports that the two discussed a wide range of topics during the program, including the status of the confirmation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, protests related to that confirmation, and the rising incidence of “suicide selfies” – people dying while taking a photo of themselves with their cell phone.

As the end of the show drew near, Arroyo picked up a six-pack of beer and set it on the table before them.

Ingraham responded with, “I like beer,” and Arroyo pulled out his cell phone.

A Mississippi community is demanding answers after a visiting high school football team’s band put on a halftime show that appeared to depict police being shot – days after two cops in that town were shot and killed in the line of duty.

As The Jackson Clarion-Ledger reports, on Friday night the football team and band from Forest Hill High School, in Jackson, came to Brookhaven to face off against Brookhaven High School. During the halftime show, Forest Hill’s band put on a show with a scene that appeared to depict students, dressed as doctors and nurses, holding toy guns and pointing them at two students, dressed as members of a SWAT team, on the ground. The students then pretended to shoot and kill the “SWAT team members.”

A Minneapolis TV reporter has found himself out of a job after showing up to cover a Donald Trump rally wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat, Buzzfeed News is reporting.

Jim Bunner was, until Friday, a “multimedia reporter” with Minneapolis affiliate KTTC, having been with the company since 2017. However, on Thursday night, Bunner showed up to Rochester to cover a Trump rally at the city’s Mayo Civic Center. While, there, he was photographed by Mark Vancleave, a video journalist for The Minneapolis Star-Tribune, who was there to cover an anti-Trump protest taking place nearby. Vancleave photographed Bunner wearing a jacket with the KTTC log as well as the familiar red-and-white “Make America Great Again” hat that has become something of a symbol of the Trump administration.

Vancleave posted the pictures on Twitter, and the rest, as they say, is history.

With Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh set to be confirmed by the Senate on Saturday, several ethics complaints from independent advocacy groups have been filed with the United States District Court in Washington D.C., the court where Kavanaugh served as a judge since 2006. The most recent complaint, filed by the liberal group Democratic Coalition, accuses Kavanaugh of committing perjury in his confirmation hearing testimony by denying that he received stolen documents while he was an official in the George W. Bush administration.

Those ethics cases against Kavanaugh will now be handled by a Republican-appointed judge who took over a seat vacated by Kenneth Starr, who went on to investigate President Bill Clinton over the Monica Lewinsky affair. Kavanaugh worked for Starr as a law clerk, as Politico reported, and as an investigator on the Clinton investigation.

A terrible tragedy occurred in 2003 when a toddler was taken into her mother’s arms as she jumped from a seven-story balcony in Maidstone, Kent, England. The child miraculously survived the fall, but Maxine Carr didn’t. Now 15 years later, this same young girl also plunged to her death in what appears to be a suicide.

According to the New York Post, Yazmina Howard, 18, allegedly jumped from a highway bridge on Monday, October 1, and and was later found dead from her injuries. After authorities investigated the incident, they deemed that there was no suspicious activity involved. The girl’s grandparents, Janet and Michael Howard, took her in and raised her after her mother died. They are heartbroken and said that they have no idea what would have led their granddaughter to do this.

Surveillance footage has revealed that a mailman dropped off more than just letters and packages during his route around a neighborhood in Memphis, Tennessee.

TheNew York Post reports that a homeowner named Scott Anderson was shocked to find that the postal worker had urinated on his porch as he made his deliveries. The video posted on their site shows the mailman walking from the sidewalk to the porch and spraying what appears to be urine as he makes his way to the mailbox. The porch is dry before he approaches but you can see a trail of liquid behind him as he sorts through the mail and deposits envelopes into the box. He’s also careful to sidestep the urine as he leaves.

According to Fox News, USPS has launched an investigation into the incident.

Still, such trivialities didn’t deter British man Dale Leeks who put his girlfriend Kelly on the online auction site with a very rude and insulting description.

The Mirror reports that the 34-year-old gentleman thought it was a fine and jolly prank to post an advert of his lady love, Kelly Greaves, on eBay as a “used” item.

It gets worse, the “Romeo” of the digital era added that “parts” of his significant other were “not working” and then went on to warn potential bidders about a “constant whining noise.”

It’s advised that when you’re in a hole it’s best to stop digging, but Dale gleefully continued to wield his shovel with the unbridled joy of a man who has thrown all caution to the four winds.
