Bride who survived to see her wedding dies of cancer.

A woman from South Carolina, who defied the odds by surviving until her wedding day, has died after battling with cancer.

Seven months ago, doctors told 30-year-old Laurin Bank that she would not be able to celebrate her wedding day due to her deteriorating health.

She, however, miraculously survived and got married on the same day that she and her boyfriend, Michael Bank, had initially decided upon. In an earlier interview with the State, Laurin said that it was “the best day of her life.”

Less than seven months after the wedding, however, Laurin passed away. Her husband took to Facebook yesterday and wrote an emotional goodbye to her, per the Herald Online.

A Hawaiian island

A Hawaiian island was almost completely washed away by Hurricane Walaka, Civil Beat is reporting. Federal scientists were able to confirm on Monday, October 22, via satellite images that East Island is gone. East Island was one of the northwestern Hawaiian islands and even had a U.S. Coast Guard radar station until 1952. Many animals, such as Hawaiian monk seals and green sea turtles, called it home.

Chip Fletcher, a climate scientist at the University of Hawaii, said he was aware that East Island would likely eventually be swallowed up by rising sea levels, but predicted that it would happen sometime within the next couple of decades. The satellite images, however, showed that the island was destroyed within a day.

“I had a holy s**t moment, thinking ‘Oh my God, it’s gone,'” said Fletcher. “It’s one more chink in the wall of the network of ecosystem diversity on this planet that is being dismantled.”

NBC host Megyn Kelly is facing intense backlash after defending blackface on the Today Show Tuesday. The former Fox News host asked her panel about what was considered offensive for a Halloween costume during a roundtable discussion, according to Raw Story. In an awkward exchange, Kelly said it was fine to dress as a black person when she was growing up, and defended reality star LuAnn de Lesseps, who was criticized for dressing as Diana Ross.

“What is racist?” Kelly asked her panel. “You do get in trouble if you are a white person who puts on blackface on Halloween, or a black person that puts on whiteface for Halloween. Back when I was a kid, that was okay, as long as you were dressing up as, like, a character.”

Gun with bullets. Handgun box with new ammunition.

A New Jersey mom’s gut feeling has helped thwart a shooting plot at a school hundreds of miles away from her home.

Koeberle Bull of Lumberton, New Jersey, has never visited nor gave much thought about Kentucky. This, however, changed last Wednesday when she received a private message on Facebook from a stranger.

The message came from a man named Dylan Jarrell, whose Facebook account showed a gunman holding a weapon. The message had racist remarks that involved Bull’s three children, who were in her profile picture.

“[He was] basically repeating himself about hoping my children would die and be hung because they’re black. It was definitely racially motivated, ‘you and your monkey children’ and using the ‘n’ word a lot,” Bull told WKYT.

Multiple lightning strikes stormy sky

Though Mexico will bear the worst of Hurricane Willa’s fury, the US isn’t going to escape this deadly storm. Willa is expected to dump up to 4 inches of rain in central and eastern Texas, a state that has already suffered from heavy rains.

CNN meteorologist Monica Garrett says that if Willa’s rains fall heavily enough, “flash flooding could become an issue.”

But Willa won’t stop with Texas. The storm is expected to continue through the Southeast US, including the Gulf Coast region that has already suffered from heavy storms and rain in recent weeks due to Hurricane Michael. Willa is expected to drop 1 to 2 inches of rain in this region.

And when Willa gets to the Atlantic Ocean this weekend, the storm will become something new. According to meteorologist Brandon Miller, “the storm will encounter colder air, which will transform from a tropical area of low pressure to a more wintertime-like storm system.”

The CDC issues a warning ot pet owners to not dress up their chickens for Halloween

Amid the continued threat of salmonella being identified in live chickens, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a safety warning to chicken owners ahead of Halloween. With the growing trend for dressing up pets, the CDC is concerned that those putting Halloween costumes on their pet chickens this year may encourage further salmonella contamination.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, at least 92 people have already been infected with salmonella in recent months. This strain of salmonella is also considered particularly dangerous as it is considered resistant to many drugs, including the antibiotics commonly used to treat symptoms of salmonella infection. Luckily, no one has died from this particular strain of salmonella yet. However, 21 people have been hospitalized thanks to the strain, which can cause stomach pain, diarrhea, and fever.

Did Anyone Win The $1.6 Billion Mega Millions Prize? The Jackpot Set To Hit $2 Billion If No One Wins

Did anyone win the Mega Millions $1.6 million prize?

After Tuesday’s drawing, millions of Americans who bought tickets are trying to find out if anyone matched all five numbers plus the Mega Ball — and they may have to wait just a little bit. Lottery officials generally do not announce until early the next day if there’s been a winner, or multiple winners, so the answer is expected someone early on Wednesday morning.

While America waits to find out if there is a new billionaire, lottery losers are already looking forward to the next drawing and the potential of reaching an unprecedented $2 billion. As ABC News noted, that would mean the winner would actually get a 10-figure sum, something that’s never happened before.

“That jackpot could soar to $2 billion if there’s no winner, according to the Maryland and Texas Lotteries,” the report noted. “That means the lump-sum payout likely would rise to more than $1.1 billion.”

A man has escaped the fiery blaze of his vintage single-engine plane after it crash-landed on a freeway in Southern California on Tuesday, CBS Sacramento reported.

The plane went down during a training exercise, hitting the center divider of the U.S. 101. The pilot was safely removed from the destroyed plane, escaping the crash with nothing more than singed hair. He was able to avoid hitting any vehicles as the plane went down, but did cause a back-up of cars on the freeway just 30-miles west of Los Angeles on Tuesday afternoon.

The pilot’s name was not immediately released, but it is known that he is a commercial airline pilot employed by Alaskan Airlines, and has 30-years of flying under his belt. He was unable to give an explanation for the sudden crash.

Donald Trump "too soft" on Saudi Arabia, most Americans say.

A majority of Americans believe President Donald Trump has been “too soft” in his condemnation of Saudi Arabia in wake of journalist Jamal Khashoggi’s murder, according to a poll conducted by Axios.

Khashoggi, a Saudi Arabian defector who was a columnist for the Washington Post, went missing earlier this month when he entered the Saudi consulate in Istanbul to collect some paperwork. Turkish news media reported that Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman had been instrumental in the plans to murder him brutally, but Saudi officials deny the claims. The Middle Eastern nation has admitted to a “cover-up” by top officials, but it still maintains the crown prince didn’t know about the killing reportedly carried out by a rogue general and his cohort.

After seemingly remaining cautious on throwing the blame for Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi’s disappearance the way of the Saudi Arabian government and the royal family, U.S. President Donald Trump has now issued his harshest criticism yet of their actions.

Speaking from the Oval Office on Tuesday, Trump called the series of events that ultimately led to Khashoggi’s death inside the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul, Turkey, “the worst cover-up ever,” according to CNN.

“The cover-up was one of the worst in the history of cover-ups,” the president said. “It’s very simple.” He later also called the entire saga “a total fiasco.”

Mega Millions Winning Ticket Sold In South Carolina, Identity Of $1.6 Billion Winner Remains Unknown

Lottery officials confirmed on Wednesday morning that one winning Mega Millions ticket worth over $1.5 billion was sold in South Carolina.

According to ABC News, Tuesday night’s jackpot easily became the highest ever Mega Millions prize in history, beating the previous record of $656 million set in March 2012. The prize of $1.537 billion, however, was only a close second to the Powerball jackpot of $1.586 billion that set the world record as the biggest lottery prize in January 2016.

Although the holder or holders of the Mega Millions winning ticket have the option of accepting the prize as an estimated annuity of $1.537 billion, with one immediate payment and annual graduated payments for the next 29 years, most lottery winners opt for the one-time lump-sum cash payment, which, for Tuesday night’s draw, was worth approximately $878 million, according to CBS News.

“The moment we’ve been waiting for finally arrived, and we couldn’t be more excited,” read a statement from Mega Millions Group lead director Gordon Medenica.

CNN's anchor Don Lemon attends the red carpet for 'The Panama Papers' at UA East Hampton Cinema 6 during Hamptons International Film Festival 2018 - Day Three on October 6, 2018

Reporter Don Lemon doesn’t buy Megyn Kelly’s recent defense of the use of blackface, Huffington Post is reporting. Kelly sparked outrage after she questioned the controversy over those who have painted their face darker to imitate someone who has a different skin color on her show Megyn Kelly Today on Tuesday, October 23.

“When I was a kid, that was OK, so long as you were dressing up in character,” Kelly said.

Kelly faced immediate backlash over the statement and quickly released an apology, explaining that “friends and colleagues” personally educated her on the history of blackface and the implications of participating in it. Lemon, however, doesn’t believe that Kelly grew up in a time period when the act was acceptable like she claimed. He expressed his opinion on her comments to CNN’s Chris Cuomo.
