A 29-year-old mother has been charged with child neglect after she left her baby in the car while she drank at Deerfield Beach bar.

According to WPLGLocal 10, the woman was arrested on Monday after an anonymous person reported seeing a baby left alone in a car in the parking lot. Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) deputies were called to Padano Bar & Grill on Hillsboro Boulevard where the woman left the baby, per a probable cause affidavit.

When the deputies reached the location at about 1:15 a.m., they found the child alone in the back of a black Hyundai, the report detailed.

According to the affidavit, “the car was off and all the windows were rolled up.”

The mother of the baby — identified as Jennifer Potts — told the deputies that she left the baby in the car only for a “couple of seconds” and went inside the bar to get her phone and driver’s license, per Local 10 News.

Over 5,100 troops are already on the border with orders to keep the caravan from Honduras from getting into the country, CBS News reports.

A steady flow of military vehicles was seen streaming into one border town. A previously-empty field in town is now holding 300 troops or more.

The troops will serve as backup for Border Patrol and Customs agents. They’re also reinforcing entry areas along the fence, and adding barbed wire to certain areas.

They’ve been deployed in Operation Faithful Patriot, Donald Trump’s effort to secure the border against a large caravan of refugees. The caravan is primarily comprised of people from Honduras who have fled the country due to lack of jobs, drug cartel activity and corruption among government officials.

A British man — who reported to the police that his American wife had disappeared at sea after their catamaran sank off the coast of Cuba — has recently confessed that he killed his wife.

The man who has been identified as Lewis Bennett got married to Isabella Hellmann in 2017. The couple had been married for three months before she went missing. According to detectives, the body was never found. On Monday, Bennett admitted a “charge of involuntary manslaughter at a hearing in Miami, Florida,” the BBC reported.

Yesterday, Reveal from The Center for Investigative Reporting published an exposé about work conditions at the Tesla auto factory. In the piece, “Inside Tesla’s factory, a medical clinic designed to ignore injured workers,” many accounts of fraudulent reporting and blatant mishandling of medical injuries are detailed.

“The on-site medical clinic serving some 10,000 employees at Tesla Inc.’s California assembly plant has failed to properly care for seriously hurt workers, an investigation by Reveal from The Center for Investigative Reporting has found.

“The clinic’s practices are unsafe and unethical, five former clinic employees said.

“But denying medical care and work restrictions to injured workers is good for one thing: making real injuries disappear.”

“‘The goal of the clinic was to keep as many patients off of the books as possible,’ said Anna Watson, a physician assistant who worked at Tesla’s medical clinic for three weeks in August.”

On June 30, 1845, the French poet, critic, and essayist Charles Baudelaire decided that he had had enough and was going to end his life, and the “extraordinary” suicide letter that he addressed to his lover Jeanne Duval has just fetched $267,000 after being sold at auction, which is three times what it was originally estimated to have been worth before going up for sale.

As the BBC reported, Baudelaire was just a tender 24 years of age on the day that he attempted suicide, and fortunately for the world his attempt at stabbing himself in the chest was wholly unsuccessful and the modernist romantic poet went on to live a further 22 years, finally dying in 1867 at the age of 46.

Only a few weeks after sharing a hug with Donald Trump in the Oval Office, rapper Kanye West cemented his political change of heart with a donation of $126,460 to Chicago Democratic mayoral candidate Amara Enyia, according to reports from the Chicago Sun-Times.

The Chicago native’s latest donation comes on top of his previous $73,540 donation to Enyia, which the rapper made earlier in October.

Enyia publicly thanked West at a recent rally in the city, saying, “I also have to give a shoutout and kudos to Ye, who is from the South Side and is invested and committed to giving back to our city.”

Chicago’s mayoral elections will be held on February 26, 2019.

An 82-year-old woman in North Texas passed away just days after casting her first-ever ballot in the 2018 midterm election, NBC-DFW reported.

Gracie Lou Phillips was surrounded by family members when she passed away early Monday morning, the family confirmed. She had been battling pneumonia and was transitioning to hospice care when she became one of the 4.8 million Texans to cast their vote early.

Phillips’ granddaughter Leslie Rene Moore described her grandmother to NBC-DFW last week as a “proud American” and “proud woman” whose family was her number one priority throughout her life, and said it was her busy family life and misconceptions about voting that kept her away from the polls until last week, when Gracie Lou made the decision to exercise her civic duty.

“She finally registered to vote for the first time in her life,” her other granddaughter Michelle Phillips said. “She kept telling everybody ‘I’m voting, I’m going to vote this year and my vote counts.'”

Former Southern Charm star and South Carolina State Treasurer Thomas Ravenel learned yesterday that the sexual assault case against him will go to trial. The father of two has been accused by the former family nanny of attacking and sexually assaulting her while she was on the job.

Live5News had a reporter in the courtroom to share what transpired when Judge Stephen Harris determined there was enough evidence against Ravenel to hold the case over for trial. The victim, who has asked to be identified in the media as Nanny Dawn, was present in court, but Ravenel, the defendant was a no-show and was represented by local criminal attorney Cameron Blazer.

Charleston Detective Christopher Malinowski shared graphic testimony he was told by the alleged victim and other people close to the case who were aware of the allegations back in 2015.

An 18-year-old football player from Oklahoma named Kayson Toliver was asleep in his bed early Thursday morning when his mother, Amy Leann Hall, fired a bullet into his head. Upon shooting her son, the mother entered the bedroom of her 16-year-old daughter, Kloee Toliver, and shot her in the head too.

Authorities say that Hall’s youngest daughter, who is only 14-years-old, had been sleeping in the same room as Kloee. According to People, her mother attempted to shoot her in the head as well, but the bullet only grazed the side of the neck. The youngest daughter, who has not been identified, was able to escape her mother by fleeing to the bathroom and eventually convincing her to drop the weapon.

Thirty-three-year-old Chris Watts was arrested on August 15 for murdering his pregnant wife Shan’ann and their two daughters, 4-year-old Bella and 3-year-old Celeste. At the time of her death, 34-year-old Shan’ann was about 15 weeks pregnant with a son whom she planned to name Nico Lee. Unfortunately, their lives would be cut short by Watts’ senseless actions.

According to People, Shan’ann and her children vanished upon her return home from a business trip on August 13. Watts previously denied his involvement in their disappearance and even went as far as appearing on television to plead for their return. He remained disconcertingly calm throughout the time his family was missing, raising the suspicions of local investigators. Eventually, the bodies of Shan’ann and her young daughters were discovered at an oil site where Watts had been working. It was shortly after that he’d be charged with their murders.

Riley is a high school music teacher at Maywood Academy High School in Los Angeles California. A Florida man was arrested on Tuesday, November 6, after visiting the St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park after hours the previous night. He caused thousands of dollars in damages and was attacked by a crocodile.

The St. Augustine Police Department explained on Facebook that they received a call from a resident on Holly Lane around 6:50 a.m. on Tuesday about a suspicious male, wearing only boxers, crawling on their lawn. The responding officers noticed that the man, who was identified as Brandon Keith Hatfield, was bloody and had injuries on his foot, so they took him to Flagler Hospital for treatment.

As the officials were en route to the medical facility, the police department received a call from the Alligator Farm. Staff members had found a single Crocs shoe and various pieces of clothing in one of the crocodile exhibits, and several other exhibits and statues around the park had around $5,000 worth of damages.

Being attacked by a jealous spouse or love rival is a terrible thing but just imagine being beaten up by your girlfriend’s demonic toy doll.

That’s exactly what happened to one unlucky Peruvian man. At least, according to the poor soul’s girlfriend.

The Mirror reports that the woman, identified only by her first name Berliz, claims that her doll flew into a terrible rage at the sight of her boyfriend and beat him black and blue.

So traumatic was the beating he received at the hands of the twisted toy, Berliz’s lover has since left his lady love, unable or unwilling to compete with an inanimate psychopath.

Apparently, the doll named Desiy, even slashed Berliz’s face. Perhaps its intention was to mark the woman from Callao in Peru as its own. Or it might have been a warning for her to stay away from any future romantic relationships.

Over 5 million Florida residents made their votes count during Tuesday’s midterm elections, approving an amendment that would ban greyhound racing and end the sport’s nearly century-long existence in the state.

According to a report from Naples Daily News, about 5.3 million people, or 69 percent, voted in favor of Amendment 13, which would put an end all forms of commercial dog racing in Florida by 2020. The Orlando Sentinel similarly wrote that this was “well above” the 60 percent of voters required for an amendment to be passed.

Projections about the 2018 midterms had long predicted the Democrats winning the House with the Republicans retaining the Senate, with the results reflecting exactly that when the Democrats getting to the 218 seat mark just after 3:00 a.m. and securing their majority.

On Wednesday morning, Paul Donovan, the chief economist at UBS Wealth Management, offered his reaction to what the results may mean by saying, “Welcome to gridlock. Trump may now fall back on policy areas that do not require Congress, like trade.”

Colten Treu is the name of the man arrested for hitting three Girl Scouts and a parent supervisor who were picking up trash along the roadside in Lafayette, Wisconsin.

Treu had been huffing or inhaling chemical vapors from a can of air duster used to clean computer keyboards when he crashed his truck into the group, killing the three girls and one adult. The Daily Mail says the dead are 9-year-old Jayna Kelley, Autumn Helgeson, 10, Haylee Hickle, 10, and her mother, Sara Jo Schneider, 32.

Robin Kelley, the mother of Jayna and the Girl Scout Troop leader, said there was no warning before the truck plowed into the group.

“There was no warning. It was fast. It was from behind. No one could turn around. All the girls, they’re family. They were Jayna’s closest friends.”
