As Prince Charles moves towards becoming the King in everything but title and takes over responsibilities from his mother, Queen Elizabeth, Prince William is also stepping up and taking on more responsibilities. The latest, according to recent reports, see Prince William attending meetings in relation to his father’s £1 billion estate in Cornwall, which he will inherit once Charles becomes the king.

According to Cornwall Live, Prince William has been attending meetings pertaining to Prince Charles’ Cornwall estate, which reportedly generated £20.5 million in income for Prince Charles last year. The most recent of these secretive meetings took place last month, according to the official diary of royal engagements, the Court Circular.

While Prince Charles is currently the Duke of Cornwall, when he inherits the throne from Queen Elizabeth, Prince William, the current Duke of Cambridge, will become the new Duke of Cornwall, hence the need for William to learn more about this valuable asset.

Six sea lions have been found dead of gunshot wounds off the coast of Washington, including one that was decapitated, in the latest string of killings of the marine mammals in the region.

As NBC News reported, a total of 13 sea lions have been found dead along the Washington coast since September. Six of the sea lions were killed by gunshot wounds while another seven died of “acute trauma” believed to have been caused by humans, the report noted. One of the animals had been decapitated.

The killings have shocked wildlife officials.

“We are concerned about a number of recent reports of marine mammal deaths caused by gunshots in the greater Seattle area. All marine mammals are protected by the Marine Mammal Protection Act and OLE investigates all reported unlawful takes of sea lions,” Greg Busch, assistant director of the NOAA Fisheries’ Office of Law Enforcement, said in a statement.

Hours after Russian forces fired on three Ukrainian naval vessels injuring a number of Ukraine troops, as the BBC reported, the country’s president Petrov Poroshenko told the Ukraine parliament that he wants approval to declare martial law in the country — a move that could lead to canceling or postponing the presidential election scheduled for March of 2019.

Ukraine’s Navy said that six of its sailors were wounded in a gun battle with Russian forces, according to information provided via Twitter by journalist Christopher Miller, who covers the region.

According to a Twitter post by Ukraine’s public broadcaster Hromadske.UA, an imposition of martial law in the country would last through January at least, and would cause the March elections to be postponed. The martial law decree would include a ban on political activities, meaning that candidates would be unable to register for the elections.

Indian authorities are trying to work out how to retrieve John Allen Chau, 27, a U.S. missionary, who was reportedly killed by a remote tribe on the North Sentinel Island in the Bay of Bengal.

John Allen Chau has not been seen since he traveled to the remote island inhabited by a tribe of people who are known to be openly hostile to foreigners. Fishermen who have ventured close to the island have reported seeing Chau’s body and authorities have since been trying to work out how to retrieve the missing missionary, according to CNN.

Chau was ferried to the island on November 17 by the same fishermen who reported seeing his body to authorities, according to BBC. It was also reported that these same fishermen saw the tribe drag a body across the beach and then bury it. One of the fishermen has since traveled back to the island with authorities to the point where he saw this activity.

A chalk drawing by Dante Gabriel Rossetti, which was purchased for just £75 in a second-hand bookshop, is getting ready be hung on display in all of its glory at the University of Cambridge’s Fitzwilliam Museum.

According to the Shropshire Star, in 1868, Rossetti used model Alexa Wilding for this particular work of art, with Wilding depicting the character of Pia de’ Tolomei. Unfortunately for Pia, her husband, Nello d’Inghiramo de Pannocchieschi, ordered her to be executed so that he would be free to marry his mistress at the time, who was the Contessa of Sovana and Pitigliano.

Dante Alighieri placed Pia de’ Tolomei in his book, Purgatorio, in Canto V with Pia asking for prayers after beginning her slow wait here along with the many others who had died suddenly. As Dante Gabriel Rossetti was an avowed adorer of Alighieri, it makes sense that he chose to portray this character in his painting, which is called Ricorditi Di Me, Che Son La Pia.

Although “bully” is one of the words most frequently used by detractors to describe Donald Trump, a newly published op-ed from a renowned anti-bullying expert explained why the president might actually be the most bullied person in the world.

Writing for Psychology Today, school psychologist, author, and Bullies to Buddies, Inc. director Izzy Kalman said on Sunday that Trump can qualify as the most bullied person, “hands down,” if one is to consider how often the media has taken shots at him. He stressed that it isn’t unusual for powerful and famous people to be insulted, ridiculed, or even defamed because of their status compared to the average person.

“The media and the general public don’t care about the flaws of the average John or Jane Doe. It is the rich, famous and powerful who are on the radar of the media, constantly on the lookout for the titillating information we crave to spice up our mundane, dreary existence,” Kalman wrote.

U.S. border officials decided to reopen the U.S.-Mexico border near Tijuana after migrants tried to cross the border.

According to a report by ABC News, the entry port at San Ysidro — situated north of Tijuana and south of San Diego — had earlier been closed since about 11:30 a.m. Sunday but the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) reopened the border at about 6 p.m. local time.

In a statement, U.S. border patrol said that thousands of migrants from Central America are waiting in Tijuana and surrounding areas to enter the United States and seek asylum.

As the Inquisitr earlier reported, U.S. agents fired tear gas to disperse a group of migrants who managed to work a piece of the concertina wire open and tried to force their way into the country through the hole they made. In a statement released by the Border Patrol, tear gas was used to stop migrants who tried to “illegally enter the U.S.”

Donald Trump is taking aim at French President Emmanuel Macron on Twitter on the topic of the violent protests in Paris this weekend, and likened the plight of the protesters to how poorly he claims that the United States has been treated by the European Union on the topic of trade and defense.

Express says that Trump threatened Macron saying that soon the EU will be challenged on both of these topics.

“The large and violent French protests don’t take into account how badly the United States has been treated on Trade by the European Union or on fair and reasonable payments for our GREAT military protection. Both of these topics must be remedied soon,” Trump tweeted.

At a time of great stress for Macron, Trump is upping the ante and demanding that “things must change.”

Speaking in a recent interview, evangelist Franklin Graham explained why he supports Donald Trump, calling the president a defender of the Christian faith.

In an appearance on Axios on HBO, Graham clarified the reasons behind his support for Trump despite the “sordid” life he has lived. As noted in a recap of the interview, this may have been a reference to the multiple allegations of sexual misconduct and extramarital affairs the president has faced since taking office.

“I never said he was the best example of the Christian faith. He defends the faith. And I appreciate that very much,” said Graham.

Graham continued to defend Trump as the interview continued, telling Axios that he still supports the president despite the aforementioned allegations of sexually inappropriate behavior and his general treatment of women.

“Trump has admitted his faults and has apologized to his wife and his daughter for things he has done and said. And he has to stand before God for those things.”

Over the weekend, U.S. agents fired tear gas at a group of migrants who were attempting to cross the U.S.-Mexico border near Tijuana. The incident led to photos of scared women and children who had been struck with the tear gas. Some of the migrants, part of the caravan that was frequently in the news leading up to the midterm elections, had reportedly attempted to breach the border fence. Other reports stated that the migrants had been throwing rocks after the government announced the closing of the San Ysidro border crossing.

In light of the news, Fox News’ daily morning show Fox & Friends on Monday morning hosted the president of the Border Patrol Federation, Ron Colburn. As reported by the Hill Colburn, who is also a former U.S. Border Patrol deputy chief, defended the actions of the border agents who fired the tear gas.

Many parts of the Midwest were hit hard with severe weather over the weekend that brought several inches of snow to their areas. Cold weather is hitting other parts of the nation hard. And President Donald Trump last week suggested that such cold-snaps may debunk the idea of global warming or climate change.

But former CBS News anchor Dan Rather disagrees with Trump, and other pundits who reject science, writing on Twitter Sunday evening that we should not embrace the anecdotal musings of individuals who readily admit they’re not scientists.

In a general statement on science, Rather made clear that those who aren’t scientists shouldn’t try and act like they’re experts on a particular scientific subject.

“When someone starts an argument with ‘I’m not a scientist, but…’ maybe we should stop listening to them weighing in on science,” Rather wrote in a tweet Sunday evening.

In a separate but related tweet Monday morning, Rather elaborated on his point.

A California Highway Patrol office recently had an unlikely visitor opening the front door and taking a walk around the premises — a bear that was caught on video entering the facility while standing in an upright position, much like an ordinary human would.

As noted in a report from UPI, the video depicting the bear’s unexpected visit was shared on Facebook on Saturday by the California Highway Patrol’s Donner Pass division. In the clip, the bear can be seen peering through the window of the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Facility in the mountain town of Truckee, standing on its hind legs. The video then shows the bear using its paw to open the front door, then dropping on all fours while taking a look at the vending machines inside the office.

On Monday, Donald Trump dismissed the devastating report on climate change released by his own government last week, saying that he didn’t “believe it.” CNN writes that while speaking with reporters, the president said that he didn’t agree with the report’s findings on the human and financial costs of climate change, and claimed that the country is currently the “cleanest” it has ever been.

“I don’t believe it,” Trump said when asked about the findings of the report. “No, no, I don’t believe it.”

When asked if had read the report, which was released on Friday, he said that he had read “some of it.”

“I’ve seen it. I’ve read some of it, and it’s fine,” he said.

The Ohio man who has been charged with the murder of a woman during a “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, is expected to argue that when he drove his car into a crowd of counter-protesters it was an act of self-defense, according to a report from Business Insider.

The attorney for James Alex Fields Jr. gave a preview of the strategy that he will seek to employ in his client’s defense on Monday in Charlottesville as the jury selection for Fields Jr.’s trial began.

John Hill, the lawyer of Fields Jr., revealed that there will be evidence that the Ohio man “thought he was acting in self-defense” when he spoke to the prospective jurors on Monday. Hill also asked whether they believed that using any type of violence as a means of self-defense was never appropriate.

Bank of America customers were treated to an unexpected windfall Sunday night at an ATM in Harris County when the machine spit out $100 bills in place of $10 bills, according to KXAN News. A man went to the Bank of America ATM near FM 1960 and I-45 late Sunday night. Instead of receiving a $10 bill, the machine gave out a $100 bill.

After the man posted about the incident on social media, crowds of people rushed to the ATM to withdraw free money. Reportedly, arguments broke out, leading to fights. Police arrived on the scene two hours after the machine malfunctioned. People were still trying to get free cash from the machine even after the police showed up. Sheriff’s deputies stood guard while the matter was resolved.

It is unknown how much cash was taken from the ATM during the hours the glitch caused $100 bills to be dispensed. Also unknown is how many people took advantage of the error.

As news breaks of the Chinese scientist who genetically altered the DNA of babies in an effort to make them more resistant to the HIV virus, Rice University announces that it will open a “full investigation” into a staff member who was also involved in the study.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, a Chinese scientist has helped create the world’s first genetically edited babies. He Jiankui, of Shenzhen, used the CRISPR-cas9 to genetically alter the DNA of a set of twin girls. The research involved editing the genes of embryos from seven couples. Of those altered embryos, only one resulted in a pregnancy.

As stated by Associated Press, these claims have not yet been independently corroborated. In addition to this, the parents of the genetically edited twins have declined to be interviewed or to reveal details of their location.

President Trump’s former campaign manager Paul Manafort violated his plea agreement by lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Special Counsel’s Office on multiple occasions and about multiple different subjects, according to a new court filing. The Hill reports that federal prosecutors and Manafort’s defense attorneys filed a joint status report that says that Manafort breached his agreement, made in mid-September, which should relieve prosecutors of all the terms agreed to in the plea.

“The plea agreement provides that if the defendant fails to fulfill completely ‘each and every one’ of his obligations under this agreement, or ‘engages in any criminal activity prior to sentencing,’ the defendant will be in breach of the agreement,” said the court documents. “After signing the plea agreement, Manafort committed federal crimes by lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Special Counsel’s Office on a variety of subject matters, which constitute breaches of the agreement.”
